OsteoMentor
proposes a novel ICT-based approach by introducing the “virtual coach” concept for the enhancement of osteoporosis patients’ QALYs, exploiting, in this way, recent technological advances towards a healthy and active ageing, by introducing new ways of health self-managing tools, set within a collaborative care context with health professionals
1.Medication control
Targeting specific pharmacotherapy, calcium and vitamin D intakes, the OsteoMentor platform will offer a medication reminder feature, set by a smartphone/smartwatch application module and the Bluetooth- based smart pill dispenser.
2.Physical activity
The OsteoMentor platform will offer a home-based workout programme tailored to the needs of the patient, supported by the virtual coach. The programme will include both personal training, as well as group exercises, to be completed by a small number of remote users.
3.Emotional wellness and socialisation
The emotion-related data of UIData/IoTData (i.e., voice, facial expression and body posture during interaction and texting sentiment analyses), will be used to infer for the user’s emotional state, through the OsteoMentor affective computing machine learning.
4.Fall/fracture risk avoidance/prevention
As OsteoMentor co-exists within the user’s daily life, it can infer behavioural anomalies and changes in patients’ everyday life based on UIData/IoTData analysis, towards fall and bone fracture risks.
5.Nutrition
The OsteoMentor platform will include a daily nutrition programme designed by the physician and the nutrition expert, setting reminders, notifications and goals configured by the OsteoMentor autonomous learning and reasoning procedure initialised by the user’s preferences and informed for his/her daily habits.
